Native Plant Landscapes that feel like home

Stop mowing the lawn you don’t even want and turn it into a lush native plant garden

You’re not looking for a landscaper to rip everything out and drop in a Pinterest-perfect design (though we love the inspo). You want a yard and garden that fits your home, matches your style, and supports the life around you.

You’ve been dreaming about a different kind of yard, something that doesn’t just look good in a photo, but feels good to live in. You want a space that buzzes with life, reflects your values, and doesn’t require you to become a full-time gardener to keep it thriving.

You want someone with a design eye and native plant expertise to translate your garden hopes and dreams into a reality.

Front Stoop Gardens’ landscape design services help you translate your hopes—and your site's specific conditions—into an ecological garden that thrives (and becomes lower maintenance) over time.

What’s included:

  • On-site consultation and assessment

  • Custom native plant layout and planting plan

  • Plant list tailored to your site and aesthetic

  • Sourcing recommendations from our nursery and local growers

  • Seasonal ecological strategies for water management & soil support

We work within many budget ranges, pricing varies by project scope.

Seasonal Gardening Services

You’ve hit a point where garden maintenance feels like too much—or you’re afraid you’ll make the wrong move and undo all your progress.

Our seasonal gardening services – spanning April to November – offer a thoughtful, collaborative way to stay connected to your garden without having to do it all alone. We’ll help you prepare for spring, tame that jungle of goldenrod, or edit a bed that’s gotten crowded, as well as the other regular maintenance your garden needs as the seasons change.

This service is about stewardship, not start-overs. We’re gentle with what’s already growing and intentional about what we introduce. And whether you want to stay hands-on or hand off, you’ll always know your garden is in good care.

We offer:

  • Weekly, biweekly and monthly recurring gardening services with at least two gardeners focused on your property.

  • Spring and fall cleanups

  • Pruning, dividing, transplanting

  • Soil assessment

  • Ongoing seasonal visits for Front Stoop-designed landscapes

Prices start at $65/hour and vary by project scope.

"Kate was really the only person I found that was in that middle ground of having the skills to do a full design project and the deep knowledge of the plants that I was interested in, without just pushing me toward what's commercially available."

“Kate gave us the vision and the practical tools to do way more… She got us out of our stuck place. I wanted someone who could really dive in with me and help me with this kind of gardening, like a mentor saying, ‘okay, yes, this is the idea and here’s how you make it practical.”

Invasive Species Removal

Informational graphic about invasive species requiring specialized handling and disposal outside regular gardening maintenance.

Invasive species aren’t just “pesky weeds.” They’re plants that didn’t originate in North America and have no natural checks and balances here.

Species like Artemisia vulgaris (mugwort), Berberis thunbergii (Japanese barberry), and Celastrus orbiculatus (bittersweet) spread aggressively, outcompete native plants, disrupt the food web, and reduce habitat for pollinators, birds, and wildlife.

Unlike weeds (think Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion), invasives take over entire landscapes and make it nearly impossible for anything else to thrive there. That’s why proactive removal is such a critical part of ecological gardening.

What’s included:

  • Site visit to assess and catalog invasive species on your property

  • Estimate of hours required and removal plan tailored to the species and site conditions

  • Careful removal and disposal following New York DEC guidelines (we avoid chemical herbicides whenever possible)

Pricing: $65/hour plus bag and disposal fees for invasive plant material

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! We specialize in native plant landscapes rooted in ecological design. That means no ornamental filler or lawn-and-mulch combos here, just thoughtful plantings that support local ecosystems and thrive over time.

  • Absolutely! If you already have non-natives in your garden and want to bring us in for seasonal maintenance or you want to keep them in your landscape design, that’s totally fine. We just don’t add more non-natives if we can help it.

  • Nope. We’re not a traditional landscaping company. Our work focuses on landscape design projects and gardens that aim to replace as much of your lawn as possible.

  • Definitely NOT. We don’t expect anyone to completely get rid of their lawns, especially with pets or a family. We just want your lawn to be a bit more intentional (and hopefully made up of a more native-friendly option).

  • Timelines vary depending on scope and season, but there is typically a delay between the initial phases of your project (consultation, analysis,  design, and project installation). Once excavation and installation begin, most projects take between a few days to install to a couple of months depending on weather conditions. We typically book out several months in advance

  • Absolutely. Whether you're hands-on or hands-off, we’re happy to walk you through what your landscape needs (and why). Education is part of the process.

  • Yes! We offer seasonal garden care for many of our design clients, and can provide a maintenance plan even if you're doing most of the work yourself.
